Keeping up Your Health and Fitness Amid the COVID-19 Lockdown

Apr 12, 2020

If there was ever a time to focus on your health and wellness, it’s now during the COVID-19 lockdown. Even if you aren’t in a ‘high risk’ category, which according to the CDC are those with heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, or are over 60-years old, you are at risk. Ensuring your immune system is operating at its best is important. You can achieve this by eating right, exercising often, and avoiding unhealthy habits.

Make Eating Healthy Fun

What you feed your body determines how your body reacts. Now is a great time to introduce new, healthy foods into your home. Experiment by trying to eat the colors of the rainbow at each meal. How many new fruits and vegetables can you try? It’s also a great time to try new recipes. Have everyone in the house pick out a new recipe to try on different days of the week. Not only will you introduce new, healthy foods to your family, but you’ll have fun doing it!

Work out Often

The CDC recommends that adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity each week or 75 minutes of vigorous activity. Now is the best time to implement this – you have more time at home and your immune system depends on it! What do 150 minutes of moderate activity look like? It’s really up to you. It can be as basic as a brisk walk around your neighborhood for 20 – 30 minutes a day. If you prefer something more rigorous, check out the top workout videos online, lift weights, or try a new workout you’ve never done before.

Using Robotics and Artificial Intelligence to Help Build your Immune System

If you’re like many others, you are overwhelmed with everything today. Trying to balance work, family, and your health all while in COVID-19 lockdown can feel like it’s too much. Artificial intelligence and friendly robots, like Misa Robot, can help make it easier than ever to stay healthy and on track.

Misa Robot helps you monitor your eating habits, give you friendly reminders to work out, and even helps you find healthy recipes to get your family trying new things. Whether you’re new to exercise outside of walking or you just want to shake things up, Misa can provide workout instructions for ways to work out various parts of your body (legs, arms, core, etc.)

As we continue to navigate our new ‘normal’ at least for the time being, it’s imperative that you and your family members take care of yourselves. Find ways to make healthy eating fun and exciting. Try a new recipe every few days or every day – Misa will guide you along. Make workouts fun with the family – have fun ‘contests’ to see how many burpees each person can do or do a ‘plank challenge.’ This is the time to keep things lighthearted, fun, and yet focus on your health and wellness to ensure the health of your family.
